On 2 June, we gathered in Domagné (35), where it all began for our Loïc Raison brand.

Arnaud Degoulet, Chairman of Agrial, Jean-Luc Duval, Vice-Chairman, and Marc Roubaud, EVP of Agrial’s Beverage division, opened the doors of the cider house to celebrate 100 years of Loïc Raison cider. This anniversary was celebrated in the presence of employees, cider apple producers, the mayor of the commune, the vice-president of the Conseil Départemental, members of parliament and the family of Louis Raison. A great way to celebrate this centenary!

A centenary in the presence of Louis Raison’s family:

100 years of quality and expertise… and above all 100 years of passion

At harvest time, more than 36,000 tonnes of apples from the orchards of the Co-operative’s 45 member producers arrive at the site. They are sorted, washed, crushed and pressed before being marketed as cider, apple juice and concentrate. 32 million bottles are sold to supermarkets and the catering trade. Nearly half of sales are made in Brittany, the rest in France and in 11 export countries.

Agrial in Brittany represents 3,200 farmer-members and 2,000 employees who process the produce of the Co-operative’s member producers on a daily basis.

A family history that respects cider-making traditions

In 1923, Louis Raison opened a cider mill in Domagné, Ille-et-Vilaine. He pressed apples for local farmers and for his family, then sold the cider to local grocery shops, cafés and restaurants.

In 1929, he came up with the idea of bottling cider for the Paris market. At his side, his son Loïc learned from an early age the secrets of successful cider-making, the perfect balance between the flavours of the apples. His aim? To offer everyone the best blends and create the finest Breton ciders.

Since then, the cider house has grown and developed: sistronomy, the art of pairing ciders with the best dishes, but also the art of living. Today, the cider house offers a range of characterful ciders, such as Cidre de Dégustation, Brut Intense, Doux Fruité, Traditionnel and Cidre Rubis.
